1. Who we are
NeedSunshineNow is operated by Markus Vesely, Goldiwil, Switzerland (hello@needsunshinenow.com). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under the GDPR and Swiss nDSG.
2. Data we collect
- Email address — if you subscribe to sunshine alerts. Used only to send destination alerts.
- Search inputs — location, budget, duration, mode. Stored in your browser's localStorage only. Never sent to our servers.
- Geolocation — only if you click 'Use my location'. Your browser requests permission. We receive the resulting city name only; raw coordinates are not stored.
- Analytics — we may use privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics (e.g. Umami). No personal data is collected.
3. Third-party services
- Open-Meteo — weather data. No personal data shared.
- Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) — reverse geocoding when you share your location. Your IP may be logged by Nominatim.
- Booking.com, Kiwi.com, GetYourGuide — affiliate links. When you click these links you leave our site and their privacy policies apply.
4. Cookies and localStorage
We do not set tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage to save your last search parameters locally on your device. You can clear this at any time via your browser settings.
5. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@needsunshinenow.com.
6. Data retention
Email addresses for alerts are retained until you unsubscribe. Search data in localStorage is retained on your device until you clear it.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be noted on this page with a revised date.
